Group Shot: Poems of the Vietnam War & Its Aftermath
Group Shot bears witness to the Vietnam War and its aftermath through poetry that uses narrative, dramatic and lyrical voices in portraits, vignettes and dioramic snapshots. The collection’s books and chapters capture the fractal, shared reality of the war’s ordinary agents and victims. Book 1 transports us on a journey “In Country” and choppers us into the war at ground-level to detail its action, terror, trauma, chaos, physical and psychological wounds. Book 2 takes us “Back in the World” to the grim aftermath and struggle of the war’s survivors. Group Shot honors the memory and neglected legacy of the war’s innumerable civilian and military casualties, unearths our buried conscience, and urges us to remember what so many have chosen to forget.
